Roster move: Eagles officially release CB Daryl Worley

15 April 2018 Eagles News

The Philadelphia Eagles have decided to release newly acquired cornerback Daryl Worley after his arrest early this morning.

Just a few months ago, Worley was acquired with a trade that sent wide receiver Torrey Smith to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for Worley. First reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, this morning, Worley was arrested for allegedly resisting arrest before a taser was administered, a gun was also found in the car.

A local to the area, Worley was excited to play for the Eagles. However, because of his actions off the field, his chance to play for them is gone. The Eagles save $670 thousand by releasing him.

Going forward, the Eagles never guaranteed Worley playing time and for all we know, his roster spot was not locked in. But, after having success in Carolina you would like to think he could have come in and fought for the starting slot cornerback job. However, there’s nothing to think about anymore, the Eagles have taken themselves out of what seems to be a very serious legal situation.
