SMU WR Courtland Sutton to visit the Philadelphia Eagles on Tuesday

9 April 2018 DRAFT Eagles News

According to 975 The Fanatics’ Geoff Mosher, SMU WR Courtland Sutton will have an official visit with the Philadelphia Eagles.

The jump ball-50/50 specialist out of SMU has already received some Alshon Jeffery comparisons by the draft community, however, Sutton is still a raw prospect. When you look at Sutton’s frame, it’s exactly what you look for in a X receiver at the next level, but when it comes to his routes, he’ll defintley need to polish up his game at the next level to create seperation.

From a production standpoint, the SMU wideout has three years of starting experience on his resume, hauling in over 196 balls for 3,220 yards, with 31 touchdowns. Having Sutton’s kind of size(6-foot-3), speed(4.54) and athleticism should definitely have his future employers drooling.

THE SKINNY: What you like from Sutton is his ability to body up smaller defenders and win in the red zone. Looking at his current skill-set and wing span you immediately think of what kind of red-zone-big-bodied target he would be for Carson Wentz. With Alshon already in-house, you get a veteran receiver to help polish up the rookie’s game, while you’re able to groom a potential replacement/young future star in the making.
