Mayock: Roseman and staff did hall of fame job
9 March 2018 Eagles News
In an interview with Eagles’ Chris McPherson, NFL Network’s Mike Mayock explained how over the last 2 years Howie Rosman and the Eagles staff did a “hall of fame job” to bring this (Super Bowl Championship) team together.
“Drafts, free agency, trades… they used everything available to them to bring this team together,” Mayock stated. “I think what Doug Pederson did from a coaching and teaching perspective was highlighted with what happened with the quarterback situation.. Wentz goes down, you go to Foles. You highlight what Foles does the best and I think it’s the ultimate… when you start talking about player personnel development, player personnel drafting and what Howie and Doug did.”
Mayock explained that looked at the Eagles performance in the preseason and thought they had a good chance to get to the playoffs but he didn’t realize they were going to wind up winning the Super Bowl.
In addition to praising the past performance of Roseman, Mayock explained how fortunate the Eagles are to have their franchise quarterback for the long term in Carson Wentz. Around the league, most coaches think there are maybe “8, 10 to 12 franchise quarterbacks” and “Wentz is a young, ascending talent,” he added.
