Punter Donnie Jones has announced his retirement from the NFL

27 February 2018 Eagles News

Eagles punter Donnie “Long Ball” Jones has announced his retirement from the NFL. After 14 years in the league, Jones was able to be a part of a Super Bowl winning team and for him, the time was right.

With the Eagles, Jones was able to achieve greatness. He holds the Eagles record for gross punting average (45,37) and net average (40.5), as well as most punts inside the 20 (138), most single-season punts inside the 20-yard line (34) and best net punting average in a season (41.6).

After coming to the Eagles via free agency in 2013, Jones was able to mark a big impression on the field and he made his presence felt off of it. He always made sure he made time available for fans, which is always greatly appreciated. Altogether, he was a great player on and off the field and he had a heck of a career.
