The day is finally here: How the Eagles can win SBLII
4 February 2018 Eagles News
At 6:30 pm the Eagles will hit the field, ready to change history in the City of Philadelphia forever. This is a monumental game for the Eagles and here is how the can win it.
First and foremost, the Eagles need to win the battle of the trenches both offensively and defensively. Basically, then need to keep their quarterback safe, while disrupting the New England Patriots’ quarterback Tom Brady. The Eagles have arguably the best offensive and defensive lines in the NFL, who have been able for the most part this season win this battle.
But, with the Patriots, you can throw statistics, rankings and those notion out the window because they will scheme and make sure they are in the right matchups to win. They are going to want to avoid leaving Fletcher Cox one on one and really put the focus on allowing Timmy Jernigan those opportunities. Luckily for the Eagles, they like their odds no matter what in any situation, however, with two weeks to prepare to expect the battle of the trenches to be closer than you think early on.
Other than that, the main area the Eagles need to do in order to win this game is establishing the run. Other than opening up the whole offense, by doing so, they initiate the run-pass option and make quarterback Nick Foles life a lot easier. The Patriots do a good job against the run, however, with the Eagles offensive line and the multitude of running backs at their disposal, they should be able to gash the Patriots a couple of time. The run game is vital in this game because it keeps the clock ticking and ensures that the ball is out of the hands of Brady and the Patriots.
What this game really boils down to is the simple fundamentals. Which team is going to be able to play a complete and clean game, like the way they have done all season. Both coaches will have had time to devise a perfect gameplan, now its time to see who executes it the best. For the Eagles, it should be simple, pressure Brady and keep drives going on offense. The Eagles have everything they need to win, what it is about now is executing.
