Carson Wentz is poised to continue his success vs. Redskins

20 October 2017 Eagles News

There is no hotter quarterback in the NFL than Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz. With that being said, Wentz will continue his hot start to the season against the Washington Redskins this Monday Night and here is why.

Going by statistics, Washington has the tenth best passing defense in the NFL, giving up on average 228 yards a game. However, in their last two games, their defense has been slacking, giving up on average 286 passing yards. The main factor in all of this is the absence of starting cornerback Josh Norman. He has missed the last couple of weeks and last week, the corner filling in for Norman, Bashaud Breeland also suffered an injury. Both of their statuses of uncertain going into the game Monday Night.

Regardless of Norman and Breeland’s status, Wentz is still poised to light the Redskins’ defense up. In their last meeting, Wentz threw for 307 yards and had two touchdowns and one interception. In Wentz’s last two games he has 526 yards and seven touchdowns, averaging 263 yards and just shy of four touchdowns a game. He is a legit MVP candidate at this point in the season.

Based off of what we know about the Redskins and Wentz’s success this season, this game will be no different than the previous matchup for Wentz. He will find ways to get the ball to his weapons regardless of who is on the field for the Redskins. In a primetime game at Lincoln Financial Field, Wentz is posied to show the NFL he is the MVP candidate we are talking about.
