Eagles defense prevails in win vs. Panthers, improve to 5-1 on the season

13 October 2017 Eagles News

Tonight, the Eagles faced a bigger battle versus the referees.

The Eagles improved to 5-1 on the season, defeating the Carolina Panthers 28-23. It was a good performance by the Eagles and a hard-fought battle. The Eagles left everything on the field tonight, winning against a very good Panthers team.

The biggest takeaway from this game is the defensive dominance by the Eagles. By only rushing four players, the Eagles defensive line completely dominated the Panthers. They shut down the run, allowing just four rushing yards between the two running backs, Christian McCaffrey and Jonathan Stewart. By being so dominated, the Panthers were forced to abandon the run and pass the ball over 50 times, which played right into the Eagles favor.

The defense really won the game for the Eagles when they forced three turnovers. One of which was turned right into a touchdown by the Eagles’ offense. With Carson Wentz throwing no interceptions and really, playing a clean game, the Panthers’ turnovers are ultimately what won the Eagles the game.
