4thandJawn staff predictions: Eagles vs. Chargers
30 September 2017 Opinion
In week 4, the Eagles will take on the Los Angeles Chargers, in the team’s third away game since the start of the season.
Although the Chargers have an 0-3 record, that is not enough to assume this team is bad. Chargers have a top-tier pass rush on defense with the 2nd most sacks (11) by a team this season and a talented offense. This should be a competitive game and one the Chargers simply cannot afford to lose.
I don’t anticipate this being a low-scoring game. Both teams have questions on defense that could ultimately lead to multiple scores. Philip Rivers has already thrown 4 interceptions this season (3 vs the Chiefs last week) and Eagles secondary will need to produce to keep the ball away from a talented receiving corps. At current standing, the Eagles are 10th in the league in passing followed directly by the Chargers at 11th, per NFL.com.
I’m curious to see how many Eagles fans turn out at the intimate Stubhub stadium. This could very well end up being a home game away from home with little to no interest from the LA fanbase.
Last week was very reassuring. The Eagles handled a difficult Giants defense well and were able to establish a solid run game. The Chargers are currently giving up close to 5 yards per carry and the birds must take advantage of that. If the OL is able to protect Wentz against guys like Bosa and Ingram, I say Eagles take the victory home with a score of 30- 27.
Here are the the rest of the score predictions from the team:
Brett Pietrzak (@BPietrzak01) 24 – 17 Eagles
Lee Nelson (@Nelson81) 27 – 13 Eagles
ERock (@TheMightyEROCK ) 27 – 14 Eagles
David Malandra (@David_Malandra) 34 – 27 Eagles
Kelly Carpenter (@football_Kelly) 30 – 27 Eagles
Lijah Spencer (@tweaked74) 24 – 20 Chargers
Jacob Fulkerson (@theJFulkerson) 31 – 21 Eagles
Brendan Walker (@BWalkerNFL) 24 – 21 Eagles
Ryan Neal (@Rwilliamneal) 27-7 Eagles
Gayle Saunders (@eagleSessions) 27 – 20 Eagles
Mal Davis (@WriteWhatuLove) 35 – 14 Eagles
We here at 4th and Jawn are fans at the end of the day so of course we want to see the Birds win. Most of feeling confident about our squad this week! Fly Eagles Fly!
