Three players who need to show up vs. Chiefs

17 September 2017 Eagles News

Today’s match versus the Kansas City Chiefs is going to be a tough one, so if the Eagles are to win, these three players need to show up for the team.

1. Nelson Agholor

Agholor stepped up last week for the Eagles, catching six passes for 86 yards and one touchdown. Aside from Zach Ertz, he was Carson Wentz’s favorite target. Today versus the Chiefs, Agholor will face another favorable matchup, one which he should dominate.

Last week, Danny Amendola of the New England Patriots was able to expose the Chief’s slot cornerback Phillip Gaines for 100 yards on six catches. This is an area where the Eagles and Agholor can really take advantage of. If the Eagles offense is going to have success, they need a good showing from Agholor.

2. Jason Kelce

Not only is Kelce playing against his younger brother for the first time today, but he will also go toe to toe with former Eagle Bennie Logan. Kelce versus Logan might just be the most important matchup in this game.

We all know how disruptive Logan is in the run game. Running on the inside is almost impossible with Logan. But, more importantly, Kelce needs to keep Logan away from Wentz. He needs to avoid being driven back by Logan, which will push Wentz back in the pocket and off his spot. Kelce definitely needs to show up today because a poor showing could be detrimental to the Eagles.

3. Jordan Hicks

Hicks needs to play a big role today, dealing with Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt in the passing game. Expect the Eagles to use Hicks when Hunt goes out for a pass. Last week, Hunt caught five passes for 98 yards and two touchdowns. He was a menace in the passing game and the Eagles need to do a good job in stopping him today.

Who better to stop Hunt than their most talented linebacker Hicks? Today Hicks has a tough task, however, Hicks is always up for it and today is just another day in the office for him.
