Report: Donnel Pumphrey tore his hamstring in practice, ruled out indefinitely

15 September 2017 Eagles News

Eagles fourth-round pick Donnel Pumphrey was inactive Sunday versus the Washington Redskins and today, we now know why.

Pumphrey tore his hamstring at practice, an injury that is a long-term injury and takes months to recover from.

We will not be seeing the former UNLV running back and college football leading rusher anytime soon. The Eagles need to take this one slow because you do not want to force someone back from a hamstring injury. This is a long-term injury which could take months to recover from.

Going forward, the Eagles are going to have to make a decision with Pumphrey. Honestly, the best move would be to put him on season-ending IR, which would allow him to get back to 100% and get ready for next season. It is a tough move for a player who wants to go out there and prove himself to everyone, however, for Pumphrey’s benefit, the Eagles need to play this one safe.
