Buying or Selling: Zach Ertz leads the Eagles in receptions tomorrow

9 September 2017 Eagles News

I am BUYING the notion that Zach Ertz will lead the Eagles in receptions tomorrow versus the Redskins and here is why.

Firstly, late in the year, Ertz had arguably his best game of the season versus the Redskins, catching ten passes for 112 yards. He was Carson Wentz’s go to guy and really dominated on the day.

History seems to be on Ertz’s side going into this clash on Sunday, but there are plenty of other factors favoring Ertz.

For one, the Ertz had his first full offseason with the same quarterback for the first time in his career. Late last season, we saw the Ertz – Wentz connection really come along. Regardless of opponent, Ertz is likely to be Wentz’s go to target.

However, tomorrow brings a different kind of challenge to the Eagles. With All-Pro cornerback Josh Norman likely to shadow Alshon Jeffery, Wentz will likely lean on Ertz a little more tomorrow. The Jeffery – Norman battle will go back and forth and expect both players to get the best out of each other, but for the Eagles, they need to play the match up in their favor and that lies with Ertz.

Ertz is going to get the ball a lot tomorrow and have a big day. Much like he did late last year versus the Redskins, expect Ertz to dominate.
