WR Bryce Treggs focusing on his own talents

11 August 2017 Eagles News

GREENBAY, Wis. – For a wide receiver group, stacked with potential talent, WR Bryce Treggs is doing the best thing he can do for himself at this moment. Treggs has been said to be a player who is on the bubble, but with his play last night he showed that he can be relied upon for now.

“I’m just taking it day by day,’’ he told the Daily News. “I’m not paying attention to what other people are doing. I’m just focused on myself and letting the plays come.’’

The second-year player poured in a solid performance for the Birds, during the preseason opener against Green Bay. Treggs was one of Matt McGloin’s most reliable pass catchers, hauling in a team-high seven catches for 91 yards last night.

During the second quarter, Treggs hauled in a 38 yard pass from McGloin down the sideline, which could have been a touchdown with a better thrown ball by McGloin. On the play, the second-year player out of Cal, blew right by Green Bay’s second-round selection in Kevin King.

Not only was Treggs making plays through the air, but he was also making his presence felt on run plays. Take a look at the block below to see what I’m talking about.

What you like to see out of preseason is competition among your position groups and the Eagles have one brewing for the 5th and 6th WR spots(if they keep 6). Treggs will have to continue separate himself from off season camp star, Marcus Johnson and 5th round selection, Shelton Gibson if he wants to continue wearing Eagles green.

The Eagles still have three preseason games left in their tank, although, they’ll have tough choices to make on narrowing down the WR depth chart. Most likely, it will be tough to keep all their young depth safe on the practice squad with out somebody getting plucked.
