Eagles training camp takeaways: Carson Wentz put on a show with 36,000 fans watching

6 August 2017 Eagles News

Today was the second and final open practice during this years’ training camp. Over 36,000 fans were in attendance to watch the Carson Wentz master class.

Here are my three takeaways from today’s practice

  1. Carson Wentz is well on his way to becoming the Eagles franchise quarterback

Wentz was literally on fire today. I mean, if you looked up how to play quarterback in the dictionary, a clip of Wentz’s performance today would be played on a loop.

But, in all seriousness, Wentz was dropping dimes today.

Here is one example.

Wentz looked poised, his arm strength was good and he was very accurate. It was a great day for the quarterback.

And off the field, Wentz made sure to spend a lot of extra time signing autographs for the fans. Yet again showing he cares about the fans and gives back to the fan base. This guy has taken control of this city and we are all ready to watch him take it to new heights.

2.  Corey Graham

Newcomer Corey Graham started off playing safety, but should really good coverage skills.

Having Graham on the roster opens up a lot of possibilities for the Eagles. For one, when the Eagles go to nickel, they can use Malcolm Jenkins there now because Graham will slide to safety.

However, an even better option would be to keep Jenkins at safety and use Graham in the slot. Graham looks the part and will have a big role in this team going forward.

3. Nelson Agholor

Every time he touched the ball, the crowd went crazy. I think that is a testament to not only his progress but the fan bases too.

Last year, the poor guy was booed even when he was introduced before the games. Agholor has come a long way since then.

He has had a really nice camp and looks like a new person. The fan base has clearly gotten behind him and for his sake, let’s hope his play in practice translates into the regular season.
