Eagles re-sign linebacker Steven Daniels

26 July 2017 Eagles News

After the news of DE Marcus Smith being released on Wednesday, the Philadelphia Eagles announced that they signed LB Steven Daniels to a three-year deal.

Daniels was released back in early June when the Eagles signed defensive tackle, Gabe Wright, to a one-year deal. In 2016, Daniels was drafted by the Redskins in the 7th round of the 2016 draft. Unfortunately for Daniels, he spent his 2016 season on the waived/injured list for Washington, tearing his labrum before the season started.

During Daniels’ time at Boston College, he was known as a hard hitting linebacker who manned the middle of the field. The three-year starter racked up 267 tackles, 30 TFLS, 10.5 sacks, with 3 INTS. Daniels had a strong outing in 2015, recording 82 tackles, with 16 tackles for a loss, 1 INT and 6 sacks.

With Jordan Hicks recovering from a hand injury, the Eagles were looking for some depth at the position. Daniels, now gives the Birds another camp body to compete at the linebacker position.
