With the Eagles a tad cash strapped this season, the Birds will take it where they can get it this off season. The Birds previously asked Jason Peters to take a pay cut to free up more money, however, Peters has still performed at a high level for the Eagles. Although Celek is still valuable as a blocking tight end and leader in the locker room, his days as a consistent playmaker have taken a back seat.
The 32-year-old vet is still a great player to have around on the roster, and should hold his spot as the No.2 TE on the depth chart behind Zach Ertz, with Trey Burton keeping his role as the swiss-army-knife of the TE group.
