If Eagles Twitter was GM: The Eagles land a CB with their first pick
7 April 2017 DRAFT Eagles News
With the NFL draft just a few weeks away, it is time to start forming a mock draft as a community. So, I took matters into my own hands and started this series.
Firstly, I asked which position should the Eagles take with their first pick in this years’ draft. The options were CB, WR, RB, and BPA. CB won the majority, but the community seemed a little divided.
If #Eagles Twitter was GM: Which position are you addressing with pick 14? Also, quote with names! @4thandJawn

There is no doubt cornerback is the Eagles biggest need, but the good thing with this draft class is that the cornerback class is pretty deep. The Eagles do not have to force a need. But, since Eagles Twitter spoke, we are drafting a cornerback in round one. And you cannot really argue against going for a cornerback in round one, it fixes the Eagles biggest problem.
The next step was time to find out which cornerback Eagles Twitter wanted. In this situation, all cornerbacks are available.
Here are the results from that poll.
If #Eagles Twitter was GM: You voted to pick a CB, so which CB would you guys take at pick 14? #FlyEaglesFly @4thandJawn

As you can see, Marshon Lattimore won by a country mile.
If you have been following the NFL Draft, you would know Lattimore has been mocked as high as third overall. However, in recent times, it seems his stock is falling a little. In a real life scenario, it is possible he falls a little and the Eagles can trade up if they want him. And who knows, maybe he even falls to 14…..crazier things have happened.
But, for this sake, Lattimore is a part of the Eagles. Eagles Twitter decided to upgrade their teams’ biggest need with the 14th pick.
Lattimore becomes the Eagles number one cornerback and will face a tough test his first season. Six of him 16 games will be against Odell Beckham Jr., Dez Bryant, and Terrelle Pryor. For a player who had just one year experience at Ohio St., this will be a very tough task.
However, Lattimore shows signs of a Pro-Bowl caliber cornerback. He has the feet, hip and agility to be a solid cornerback in the NFL. He also possesses very good ball skills. While his lack of experience might cause an issue early on, Lattimore is primed to be a top talent.
