Eagles mock draft round up: Charley Casserly has the Eagles addressing their cornerback need

28 March 2017 Eagles News

With the 14th pick in the NFL draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select cornerback Tre’Davious White out of LSU.

According to the recent mock draft by NFL.com’s Charley Casserly, the Eagles are upgrading their cornerback position. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000795664/article/casserly-mock-draft-30-browns-make-trade-add-three-stars

Adding White adds a lot of needed talent to the Eagles cornerback position. Not only can White play outside, but he is also viewed as a player that can play on the inside as well. He is a very versatile defender. he will have no problems starting day one for the Eagles. If the Eagles select him, he will be their starting outside corner.

If you need any convincing, just read this scouting report by NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein.

“Full-time starter for better part of four years and one of the premier mirror-and-match cornerbacks in the game. Has the feet, athleticism and instincts for prolonged coverage responsibilities and his twitch will always have him near the throw. Best suited for all forms of man coverage. Should compete as special teams performer. Lacks run-support physicality to be an every-down corner, but he’s talented enough to challenge for slot duties right away.”

During the Senior Bowl, the Eagles seemed fascinated with White. Eagles VP of player personnel Joe Douglas had nothing but praise for him. Usually, that would mean something, but for the Eagles, it means a lot. Douglas is the one setting the Eagles draft board. Selecting White at this pick makes sense because they will not have another chance to pick him. If they are really in love with him, they have to take him here.

Here is what Douglas had to say about him.

“He’s a leader. He’s been ultra productive. He’s tough as nails. He plays nickel, he plays outside, he has ball skills. You can stack his level of production up against any corner in this draft.”

One more thing, here is a video of Turron Davenport of Eagles Wire interviewing White at the Senior Bowl. Take a look, it is awesome.
