RB Barner signs with the Chargers

20 March 2017 Eagles News

According to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport free agent RB Kenjon Barner has signed with the San Diego Chargers.

The Eagles could have held on to the journeyman RB, but with a full house and a RB rich draft, perhaps the Birds felt they can find other options to fill his roster spot.

In his time in Philadelphia, Barner rushed for 253 yards on 55 carries, averaging 4.6 yards per carry. Barner showed flashes, but was only used as a rotational back and on special teams during his short stay.

At the current moment, the Eagles have Ryan Mathews, Darren Sproles, Wendell Smallwood, Byron Marshall, and Terrell Watson for RB depth. Look for the Eagles to add a veteran running back after Ryan Mathews is released, along with adding another one through the draft.
