Report: Eagles sign QB Nick Foles, Chase Daniel likely to be released

13 March 2017 Eagles News

The legend of Saint Nick returns to the City of Brotherly Love.

This morning, it was reported that the Eagles agreed to terms with quarterback Nick Foles. This move was made official by the team shortly after.

Foles was signed to a two-year deal worth $11 million with $7 million in guarantees.

Foles had the historic 27 touchdowns and two interception season with the Eagles. In that same year, Foles went to the pro bowl and was named the MVP.

Foles was wrongly traded away by then Head coach Chip Kelly, However, if he was not traded away, who knows what the Eagles future what have been under Foles. But, Foles gives the Eagles a solid backup quarterback presence. I think it is safe to say, the team is in good hands if anything happens to Carson Wentz.

With the news of the Foles signing, backup quarterback Chase Daniel has requested to be released. For weeks, the Eagles have been trying to move Daniel as he wants to be a number one quarterback.

By releasing Daniel, the Eagles are only set to make $1 million. But, that $1 million is better than having to pay him the $8 million he was due this season. However, releasing Daniel can save the Eagles more money because of the offset language in his contract.
