Would you pay $12m for Kenny Stills?

27 February 2017 Eagles News

According to the Miami Herald’s Armando Salguero, the market for free agent Kenny Stills is “already in the $12-million-a-year” range.

Stills is coming off of a great season for the Dolphins, where he had 42 receptions for 726 yards and nine touchdowns. Five of his touchdowns were of 50-yards or more too. His ability to stretch the field is undeniable, but is that worth his price tag.

Also, in Salguaro’s article, he names the Eagles as a likely landing spot for Stills. There is even a team on everyone’s lips as a likely landing spot for Stills……The Philadelphia Eagles.

Stills would add a different aspect to the Eagles struggling wide receiver corps. The Eagles had one of the worst receiver corps in the NFL. In fact, together Nelson Agholor, Dorial Green-Beckham, Paul Turner and Bryce Treggs didn’t even eclipse 1,000 yards receiving.

However, after being surrounded by an explosive offense, would Stills still be as productive for the Eagles?

With the Eagles, Stills would not have that luxury. He would also have a lot of pressure on his shoulders from both the fans and the front office. By paying Stills $12m a season, you would think you would be getting big time production. If Stills cannot produce, he will be in trouble.

So, you have to ask yourself, is Stills worth that price tag? There is no doubt the Eagles need WR help. However, instead of panicking, there is a lot of other ways to address the need. Sometimes, it is better to play it smart and not overpay.
