Eagles three round mock draft: The Eagles address their two biggest needs

11 February 2017 DRAFT Eagles News

Although the NFL Draft is still two months away, it still does not stop the mock draft hype train. Without further ado, here is my way too early three round mock draft.

Round 1 Pick 15: Sidney Jones CB Washington

Jones is one of the best cornerbacks in this years’ draft. He has everything you need in order to become a real shutdown cornerback in the NFL.

Jones would immediately become the Eagles best cornerback on the roster. The Eagles are said to want a game changer with their first round pick and Jones is exactly that. In a division that has the likes of Odell Beckham and Dez Bryant, you need to have a good cornerback to cover them. Jones is exactly that.

Adding Jones to the mix, the Eagles will have one of the best young cornerback duos in the NFL. He and Jalen Mills will form a formidable force in the Eagles secondary.

If you want to read more on Jones, here is the all-22 I did on him earlier: http://4thandjawn.com/2017/01/19/prospect-film-review-sidney-jones/

Round 2 Pick 44: Zay Jones WR ECU

After being heavily endorsed by Philadelphia’s own Merrill Reese, Jones seems destined to come to the Eagles.

However, Jones is a receiver on everybody’s radar, After a very successful Senior Bowl, Jones’ value has been sky rocketing. Before the Eagles could have landed him on day three of the draft, Now, the only way they pick Jones is with their second round pick, he will not fall into the third round.

Round 3 Pick 76: Jamaal Williams RB BYU

Without using one of their prior picks on a running back, the Eagles kind of showed their hand a bit. Even though this running back draft class is pretty stacked, the Eagles do not want to keep sitting and waiting. In round three, they grab Williams.

Williams is a big, powerful and high motor running back. After hearing Adam Caplan say this, “The Eagles need a 3 down back. I would be floored if the team used a 1st round pick on an RB,” it makes a lot of sense for the Eagles to wait and take a player like Williams. Willams is a steal this late, he could start for the Eagles on opening day.
