If Eagles Twitter were GM: Roster Cuts
7 February 2017 Eagles News
Welcome to the new series If Eagles Twitter were GM. Here, YOU make the roster decisions. Each week, I post questions on my twitter and together we form the Eagles roster.
Here are the two questions I asked this week and the outcome.
If Eagles Twitter were GM: Which trio of players would you let walk/release #Eagles @4thandJawn

Also, even though Leodis McKelvin was not a part of the trio that won the poll, a big majority of twitter users suggested he be cut as well.
By releasing Mychal Kendricks ($1.8 million), Connor Barwin ($7.75 million), Ryan Mathews ($4 million), and Leodis McKelvin ($3 million) we have created $16.55 million in cap space.
Adding that to the original $7 million the Eagles had, we now have $23.55 million to work with…not including the $5 million the league gives us for our draft picks.
Another big decision on our hands was the future of Bennie Logan.
If #Eagles Twitter was GM, Would you resign Bennie Logan or let him walk @4thandJawn
— Ryan Neal (@Rwilliamneal) February 6, 2017
You spoke, we are resigning Bennie Logan.
With the money we created, we can afford Logan. Using Damon Harrison’s contract he received last season as a reference, we are going to be looking at about $7-8 million a season for Logan. Since we do have such little money to work with, his contract is going to be back-loaded, meaning we owe him a smaller amount of money in the first couple of years of the contract. This season we will owe him just $5.5 million.
We now have $18.05 million in cap space, this money will be important for our next decision, remember this number.
As we sit, here is our roster post roster purge.
You can start to see what positions are now going to be addressed post roster purge, as well as the ones we already knew about like the wide receiver and cornerback positions.
Stay tuned for the next question. It is going to be a big one.
