With the Eagles signing linebacker Jaboree Williams on Sunday, the Birds will look to see what the former Demon Deacon LB can bring to the table. Williams, was a tryout player for the Eagles rookie camp this off season. During his time at Wake Forest, he recorded 147 tackles, with 19.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, and 2 interceptions for his entire career.
Releasing Nelson now will save the Eagles $1 million dollars in cap space. Unfortunately for Nelson, he did not flash enough for the Birds to even keep him in the mix. Nelson has underwhelmed all throughout training camp. With both Kamu Grugier-Hill and Nate Gerry coming on strong for the Will spot, Nelson did not move the needle enough to be in conversation for the starting job.
