Recap: Eagles fall short vs. Falcons, lose 24-20

It just wasn’t meant to be.

The Eagles fall to 1-1 after suffering a loss at the hands of the Atlanta Falcons, 24-20.

If you didn’t get to see this game, this recap article would seem crazy so let’s first break everything that made this game crazy down.

Firstly, injuries depleted the Eagles offense. Dallas Goedert, DeSean Jackson and Alshon Jeffery didn’t even see a snap. No word on their injuries came out before the game, so it was a very weird spectacle when we realized they weren’t playing.

Then, Carson Wentz took a few shots in the first half and looked a completely different quarterback. He threw some very bad interceptions before he woke up in the second half and made this play.

After trailing 17-6, the Eagles bounced back and scored making the game 12-17 after a missed two point conversion. The Eagles then took the lead late in the game after a Wentz statement drive and rushing touchdown.

The Eagles defense, which had been making plays and forcing turnovers all night let Falcons star wife out Julio Jones score a 64 yard touchdown on a fourth and three. The Eagles last drive ended just one yard short of the conversion after Wentz yet again made a huge play prior on fourth and 14.

When it’s all said and done, the Eagles gave this game away. Another terrible first half put them behind and it was hard for them to come back into this one. They should they’re mentally tough and Wentz had a great game and should his toughness. But, this business is about winning and the Eagles didn’t get it done.

But, now it’s time to learn from this and heal as the next game is less than a week away. Next week they’ll be home when they take on the Detroit Lions. Fly Eagles Fly!
