This a a big boost for an Eagles defense which struggled this past Sunday versus the Dallas Cowboys. Jones has been out dealing with an hamstring injury. While healthy, he was primarily the Eagles slot cornerback, but with Ronald Darby out with a torn ACL and Jalen Mills still on the shelf, Jones will likely suit up outside.
As for Jernigan, he’s been out after going under the knife this past offseason for an herniated disc in his back. The Eagles have surely missed his presence on the defensive line. He’ll not only help the Eagles group as a whole, but he frees up his defensive tackle buddy Fletcher Cox which is a move that always holds well in the Eagles favor.
The injury bug has not settled well with the Eagles this season. If the Eagles are to start to make a run, they need to overcome it. And, it could start this Sunday with Jones and Jernigan.
