The winning formula: Here’s how the Eagles beat the Cowboys this Sunday night

11 November 2018 Eagles News

In a game where the Eagles can ultimately end the Cowboys season, the team should be pumped up for it. But, in the NFL, nothing is that easy and if the Eagles are to win, here’s what going to need to happen.

For one, the Eagles need to establish the run game. By doing so, it only makes Carson Wentz’s job a lot easier. The run game opens everything up and will also kill off the clock by doing so. Whether it’s Wendell Smallwood, Corey Clement or the x-factor Josh Adams, the Eagles need to get this group going early, especially with a defensive line that’s hungry for the quarterback.

Next up, the Eagles need to do a good job setting the edge defensively. This comes into play in both the run game as well as the pass game. By not allowing opposing running backs outside and forcing quarterbacks to stay contained in the pocket, setting the edge is important. That is especially so in a game against the Cowboys with Ezekiel Elliott and Dak Prescott. The Eagles can easily dominant defensively if they are able to really control what the Cowboys are going to do every snap.

One of the last things the Eagles are going to do is get their weapons involved. Offensively, the Eagles’ have a couple of different weapons that pose their own risks. There’s no possible way all of these players can be covered. The Eagles have Alshon Jeffery, Golden Tate, Nelson Agholor, Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert. Going up against a Cowboys defense that’s susceptible to the big passing plays, the Eagles have the ammo to really hurt the Cowboys.

When it’s all said and done, it is a divisional game so it’s going to be competitive. But, the Eagles have the talent and the home field advantage that should hopefully see them get carried to victory. Eventually, the Eagles are going to ware down the Cowboys and start to pull away. The Eagles have have the formula and now it’s up for them to put it into action.
