Nelson Agholor’s inspiring season and turnaround was capped with a great Super Bowl performance

7 February 2018 Eagles News

Nelson Agholor’s rebound this season is nothing short of a great sports story in the city of Philadelphia. Agholor was a player counted out in his early years, making it hard for him to thrive. With a new wide receivers coach in Philadelphia and a change of position to the slot, Agholor proved everyone wrong this season and in the biggest game this year, Agholor balled out.

This year, Agholor caught 62 passes for 768 yards and eight touchdowns. He very much so had a breakout year and the rebound from all the criticism he received is inspiring. Agholor had more receptions, touchdowns and yard this season than his previous two combined.

Fast forward to the biggest game of the season, Agholor had a favorable matchup all game, in which he made sure to make an impact. He caught nine passes for 84 yards against the Patriots while making some big conversions for the Eagles. When in doubt, Eagles quarterback Nick Foles threw it to Agholor who was very reliable on the day.

A year of redemption for Agholor has been capped off with one of the better Eagles performances in the big game. It is definitely a testament to Agholor’s strength and character. Some would not be able to come back after the abuse he received last season. But, his inner belief and strength brought him to where he is now.

Agholor worked hard and grinded, and he did it behind closed doors. When it was time to play, Agholor shined. A year of hard work can do a person some good and Agholor is a great example of that. Sometimes, failure and hard times build character and it is something you can grow from. Judging from this season, Agholor has grown into a giant because without a doubt he was one of the Eagles most important players this season.

For the rest of his life, Agholor is a Super Bowl champion, no one can take that away from him. And, the journey he took to get to that point makes it so much sweeter.
