The Eagles offense did a great job not letting Carson Wentz’s injury slow them down

19 December 2017 Eagles News

Although Nick Foles cannot do some of the things Carson Wentz can, the Eagles did a great job not letting the injury slow down their offense.

At first, it was not pretty and the fluidity was not there, but that is expected when a new player, especially a quarterback is inserted into an offense. However, the Eagles did not let that affect them, they called the same plays and with time, things will smoothen out.

Even so, Foles finished the game 24/38 for 237 yards and four touchdowns. Alshon Jeffery, Nelson Agholor, Zach Ertz and Trey Burton were on the receiving end of Foles’ touchdowns. For the most part, Foles showed a lot of confidence in his receivers which is very important, especially since that was his first game with the group.

It is very important to the success of the Eagles and their offense that they do not get too cute with trying to adopt a new quarterback. It is a testament to how good both Foles and the coaching staff are because they were able to implement Foles into the system pretty seamlessly.

It was not all perfect, but with time, Foles will get even more comfortable. Having a first-round bye already solidified is definitely going to be important down the road for Foles and the offense, it is just another week to prepare. For a lot of quarterbacks being thrown into the starting scene, they are overwhelmed. However, with the Eagles, they were really prepared, composed and Foles did a nice job executing the offense.

As the season goes on, Foles will be more comfortable with the players around him and get better. Although he is not Wentz, he can lead this Eagles team.
